Big Ideas for Little Hands: June 2014

Monday Meet Me Week #5

I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune today so that you can get to know me! Click on the button to link up or find other bloggers to get to know also.
1. My birthday was yesterday and after a long 7 hour drive to Alabama, I got to spend my birthday with my wonderful husband and amazing daughter. I am thankful for all of the friends we have across the world that also helped me celebrate my last birthday in my 20s!

2. Who doesn't love Sonic Shakes? Peanut Butter Fudge Shake is absolutely my weakness. Now that it is summer and shakes are half off after 5PM, me and my daughter make an almost daily trip to Sonic. It's only a mile from my house and so hard to say no.

3. Refillable ink cartridges! Best things ever made! I never knew you could do this. My husband bought the kit and taught me how to refill each cartridge. Now I am on a printing marathon and getting everything ready for back to school time. Watch out laminator! You're next!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Monday Meet Me!

I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune today so that you can get to know me! Click on the button to link up or find other bloggers to get to know also.

I am so excited for me to get to know so new bloggers and for followers to get to know me. Here goes:

I teach Kindergarten on an Army post at Fort Campbell, KY. I have taught here for the past 5 years. I taught Kindergarten for the past 2 years and Pre-K before that. Before I began teaching on post, I taught Pre-K in the county for 3 years. I loved teaching Pre-K and actually cried when I found out I was being moved to Kindergarten. Now I think Kindergarten is my favorite grade. I love those little ones :)

I have a 6th grader!!!!!! My daughter graduated 5th grade on Friday so I know officially have a middle schooler. I'm not ready to admit it because she is growing up so fast but I know she will do amazing things in middle school next year. I am also married to an amazing man that just became an officer in the Army. He was currently enlisted for the past 10 years and graduated college last month and is now an Army officer. I am so proud of all of his hard work and what he has accomplished!

I watch anything on my DVR. I never have time to watch shows when they actually come on and I hate sitting and waiting on commercials so we just DVR everything. Me and my daughter are currently addicted to a lot of reality shows like American Idol, America's Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and Celebrity Wife Swap. We also love watching Devious Maids together but shhhh don't tell anyone since it's not really "kid appropriate" but we love it and it's our bonding time :)

I listen to mostly top 40 and my daughter can sing along to almost every song. My absolutely favorite music is 90s though. Who can't resist a little Backstreet or Christina :)

I read mostly magazines during my short 15 minutes of peace I have to myself. But I am diving into some Daily 5 reading this summer. We started Daily 5 in my classroom last Spring and my kids loved it and grew so much and I can't wait to start it with my new Kinders in August.

I do everything! My husband is currently in flight school for the next year so it is just me and my daughter at our house holding down the fort so that leaves me with doing everything, lol. I cook, clean, work, take my daughter to cheer and dance, and everything else that needs to be done. It gets very busy but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Thanks for stopping by to get to know me a little better. I can't wait to "meet" some new friends!

Currently June

My first Currently!!!! I am so excited to be linking up with Farley and her monthly currently. I am hoping to get the hang of blogging this summer so that I can get better at blogging during the school year. So here goes nothing. Here is my June currently:

Listening: Me and my daughter have became obsessed with Zulily. We browse the new deals everyday together. It's like our little bonding time. I would say we make a purchase at least once a week. This order had her 5th grade graduation dress and shoes along with a few other summer dresses and a box set of Preschool Prep DVDs for my classroom. Love this website! Click on the link above to browse.

Loving: Today was a half day of packing up the room then my Kindergarten team went out to lunch before we went our separate ways for summer vacation! So glad it is summer break but I will miss my amazing coworkers and kids. But am going to love sleeping in and relaxing some.

Thinking: We are in the process of a few mini renovations on our home in case we end up moving this summer. If we move we will rent out our house and I need to have it rent ready soon just to be prepared. I really need to do some cleaning since the flooring people will be here in the morning. Ahhhh!!!!

Wanting: I have been so stressed recently about not know what this summer will hold. There is a chance that me and my daughter will have to pack up spur of the moment to move to Fort Rucker to join my husband or we may stay here for an extra year. My husband recently moved to Fort Rucker due to the army but will only be there about 15 months then move again. I do not want to have to have my daughter change schools that much and me change jobs that much so we are still undecided on if we are moving or not. I have applied for jobs down in Alabama and if I get hired then we move and if not we stay. I just wish I would know something soon!!!! It's driving me crazy, lol.

Needing: I have a Zumba class in an hour and really need to get off the couch and get dressed but am lacking the motivation. Don't get me wrong, I love Zumba and love going. Once I get there I will be motivated, but the couch and Wife Swap are screaming "don't leave us!"

Summer Bucket List: My daughter is still in school until Friday so we cannot start our summer just yet. I will definitely enjoy these few days of peace and quiet around the house and try to get a lot accomplished while she's still in school. But once she is out, we are heading to New York to see my grandparents and visit the city. We go every year with my mom and this is one girls trip I look forward to all year. No husbands allowed. Just the girls!

I hope to be back very soon to share some things that we have done over the school year.
Happy Summer!
